Beautiful Ears

I was recounting a story to my roommates about how when I was small, like 4 or 5 years old, my grandma (dad's mom) wanted to pierce my ears.
My mom didn't think I was responsible enough to get my ears pierced, and explained that I was allowed to get them when I was baptized (8 years old).

My grandma didn't agree with my mom. She thought I needed to have earrings right then. Upon approaching me on the subject, while my mom was conveinently at work, she asked if I wanted my ears pierced. I said yes, more than anything, but my mom said I couldn't have them until I was 8.

My grandma's persuasion was that I needed to be beautiful. "Don't you want to be pretty and beautiful Tiffany? How do you think you will ever be beautiful if you don't have pierced ears?"

At five years old, I had already been informed that unless women are beautiful, they are worthless. That's what our society teaches our young girls and boys.

So I decided to be beautiful, and my grandma pierced my ears.

Life Is Beautiful

So I haven't written in a while. Life's been a little crazy. A little too crazy.

But no matter what happens, life is beautiful.

Life will always be beautiful.

Spring has (hopefully) SpRuNg!

With not much to "muse" about, I just realized how happy I am to have spring here. I will only get to enjoy the weather for a moment before I have to begin shutting myself indoors to earn the big bucks!
I love when the spring comes and I see the first butterfly of the season. When I was young, it was such a treat to spot the first butterfly, and I took a special liking to the monarchs of our area. There is something so elegant about this simple creature, that I can't help but love the world around me, and realize the beauty God leaves for us on rainy days.
Enjoy the B-E-A-Utiful weather! Hopefully it will last for a while longer!

Retaliation Hair

I think it's a woman's retaliation to change their hair whenever they are upset or someone makes them mad. Our hair is the one thing we feel we have control over, so I decided to go in for a drastic change! My mom would NEVER, and I mean NEVER let me cut my hair more than a few inches to "trim" it, all growing up. She even got mad at me when I grew out my bangs in the 6th grade. I so often wanted to try something new with it, and she wouldn't let me because "I wouldn't like it" and "it'll make you look ugly." Her words, not mine.

So the other day I wasn't having a good day and decided what the heck. Today is mine! So I went in and told the lady how much to cut, she asked if I was sure, and then chop! Away went my hair. So then I decided cutting it wasn't enough.

I think Brittney and I should switch expressions... I should be scared, right?

Soon to be me on the box.

I put my trust in the two of them?

AHH!!

We're getting there.

Mixing it in, for the 30-minute set-in.
Now I have hair that is maybe 8 inches total in length, and my beautiful locks of red are completely gone. Completely. I'm okay with it though... I really am.
